Our name, our history
Two words that form one name, with a common denominator of deep expertise and a great passion for truly good meat! The history of ελvida is intertwined with the story of a Greek family that knows the secrets of producing high-quality meat and has established one of the largest Angus farms in the world in Argentina. In Greece, since 2002, an innovative gyro production facility was established, radically transforming the way the Greek grill house market operates, upgrading quality, and ensuring product safety.
Today, ελvida is one of the largest Greek companies, with established brands such as Hellenic Gyros, Nostimost, and Devesa, and top partners in both foodservice and organized retail in Greece and 20 countries worldwide. Now, ελvida is writing a new chapter in its history, with a renewed logo, new products, and new recipes that will enter every Greek household, reach every corner of the world, and offer even more quality choices to its partners.
An “industrial revolution” in Gyros production
In 2002, Ελvida set the standards for industrial production of Gyros in Greece and since then is the essential player regarding the evolution of the production process, in terms of taste and quality. We were the first to trade frozen Gyros across distribution channels to ensure food safety.
Our packaging, our way of producing and processing meat and Gyros, our automated production system, our weight on the spot system, are innovative methods that we were the first to implement and nowadays, are the standard routines for all industries of the meat sector, which came up later. We should also mention, that we were the first to create and implement automated traceability system, back in 2004. Before anyone else in our sector.
We are also proud, that we are certified not only with ISO22000:2018 & ISO14001 standards for processed food, but also with the international certificates of IFS & BRC. Moreover, our factory is proposed and used from the ministry of Development, so as to be checked from the EFSA and the Canadian authority for food safety.
